Tiger -- Congratulations!

1st Corinthians 9:24 "Know ye not that they which run in a race run all, but one receiveth the prize? So run, that ye may obtain."

The time, energy, work, sacrifice, and effort that goes into training to perform at the highest levels of a sport are staggering. Few can do it and fewer can master their emotions and talents to perform at such a level on a consistent basis.

That said, are we running to receive the prize? The trophy Tiger is holding in this picture will not compare to the saints hearing those words spoken by Jesus to those who faithfully run the race and obtain the prize...

Well done, good and faithful servant

In Him,

Eye

  • Eye,

What amazed me in Tiger's performance is that he gave up at least 60 yards on every drive by not using his driver. But even from 200 yards out, he still put it on the green and gave himself a chance at birdie. And he stuck to his game plan, even with the pressure on during the last day.

On the other hand, when Lefty stuck to his game plan on the last day a few weeks ago, when it wasn't working, he blew his lead. Ya gotta be good, ya gotta be smart, ya need a good caddie, and ya need to listen to him.

I suppose there are parallels in the spiritual life. Study to show yourself approved (2 Tim 2:15), get wisdom (Prov 4:7), find an honest, faithful friend who will challenge you (Prov 27:6), and allow him to sharpen you (Prov 27:17).

We should all pray for Tiger's salvation. He would make an excellent ambassador for Christ.

  • Dr Davy,

Great points and yes, we should pray for Tiger to repent and believe the gospel!

I think he may have an affinity with Buddhism, but I could be mistaken.

  • Eye,

Are you saying that the sovereign God can't overcome Tiger's affinity to Buddhism? ;-)

  • Eye,

Surely you're not saying that God's grace is irresistible!!??

  • Dr Davy,

    God got to Cain too...

The real question is do you react like Cain or do you react like Paul while the 'stargate iris is open' to use my feeble analogy from another post. The choice to repent and believe the gospel is still that of Tiger's or anyone else's to make...

You agree God isn't making that decision for those we read in the Bible who repent and believe the gospel, right?

    In Him,

    Eye
